Fourth Of July Plumbing Tips
Posted on June 30th, 2017 by Matt Connolly
Fourth of July weekend is here! Which means our home needs to get ready for an abundance of people, food, and parties. If you’re planning a get together with family and friends, don’t let your homes plumbing ruin the festivities. Here are a few ways to ensure you and your home are ready for all the holiday weekend has to offer.
Clean your lawn. Make sure all of the backyard spigots are working and the outdoor plumbing is in tact. And before people start coming by, check you lawn for standing water. Pools of standing water are a breeding ground for mosquitos and insects (it’s also a sign of a damaged sewer line or a leaky, broken pipe!).
Check your homes water circulation. Water pressure is an essential part of your homes plumbing system. Adequate water pressure provides you and your guests with fresh water from your sink, and safe water from the hose outside that kids can play with.
Watch what you put down the drain. A common kitchen problem, no matter what time of year, are garbage disposal repairs. Although it would be nice if our garbage disposals could handle anything we place down there, there’s a long list of no-no’s you may want to make clear:
•Oil and grease.
If you give yourself enough time to test your indoor and outdoor plumbing, you should be in the clear for a disaster-free Independence day! But, We understand that accidents happen. If you encounter a plumbing problem this weekend, don’t sweat it. Just turn to the professional plumbers at Blue Mountain Plumbing, Heating and Cooling.
