Doing your laundry is fairly simple. Separate colors, throw in some laundry detergent and choose your cycle. But if the clothes have stains, that’s a different story.

5 Tips To Help Get Stains Out Of Your Clothing

Timing Is Everything.
So treat stains as soon as the spill occurs! Fresh stains are much easier to clean than those over 24 hours old.

Always Blot, Never Rub.
For fresh stains, blot with a clean cloth to absorb as much of the spill as possible. Never rub a stain — this will make the stain bigger, pushing it deeper into the fabric.

Go For The Cold.
Always treat stains with cold water. Hot water can set stains into the fiber of your clothing.

Skip The Soap.
Your first instinct may be to grab a bar of soap, but soap can also set stains in. Stick with just plain water — there isn’t even a need for club soda!

Divide And Conquer.
Wash your stained items separately from your other clothes. If you mix them together, the stain can end up on the clean clothes during the cycle.
