If you’re reading this, then your home most likely feels less then comfortable at the moment.
That’s not good!
Here are 4 reasons why it feels like your air conditioner isn’t working.
- Improper Installation
Was your air conditioner recently installed? If so, the reason it isn’t cooling has to do with the installation (the system may be too big or too small for your space).
Contact a more reliable and reputable HVAC contractor (like Blue Mountain!) to come in and check it out. - Unmaintained Condensor Unit
A big part of AC maintenance has to do with cleaning the condenser that’s outside where grass, leaves, dirt, and other debris are bound to get trapped.
Since this unit is outside, you will always have to keep up with regular cleanings but to keep the dirt at bay, make sure the unit is at least two feet away from any bushes or plants and trim any overhanging branches from trees. - Insufficient Airflow
If there isn’t enough air flowing from your air vents, then it doesn’t matter how cold you lower the temperature on your thermostat, you won’t ever feel it!
Check each room to make sure the vents providing your air and heat aren’t blocked by any furniture or trapped by dust or dirt. - Thermostat Issues
However, the issue may very well be with your thermostat. For instance, the batteries could die, the system inside can malfunction, or maybe you have it installed improperly (like directly in front of sunlight).
One other reason your AC unit may not be cooling your home is that there might be a leak. If you notice water spots or strange smells on your ceiling or walls, check out Why Is MY AC Leaking. We also suggest calling an expert technician right away to help.
